I love this quote from my devotional today:
“There have been great gains already from my sickness. I live in the present. I am grateful for little things. I have more time — and use it — for prayer.”~~William Sangster, Methodist Preacher during WW2
Living with RA has given me all of this and so much more. Everyday that I wake up is another day to praise my Heavenly Father for His love and kindness to me. Although I must admit that I am not always as faithful, or as positive in the difficulties of living with RA as I should be; it is a daily goal I strive for.
In my devotional it said that after William Sangster was diagnosed with Progressive Muscular Atrophy which eventually left him completely paralyzed, he set the following rules for himself: (1) I will never complain; (2) I will keep the home bright; (3) I will count my blessings; (4) I will try to turn it to gain. I want to strive daily towards these same wonderful goals. I admit that there will be days that it will be easier than others, but I will not give up.
Friends I have learned that in the hard times it is more critical than ever to keep our faith and trust in God. We must cling to every promise we find in His word.
For we walk by faith, not by sight.
